News Men's British Teams (01/11/2008) Loughborough was represented by three of our boys
in the recent Men’s British Championships. Rob, Nath and Tim put in
strong performances on all their events with Rob finishing 4th all
around by the narrowest of margins and securing places in 3 masters
finals. Nathaniel finished 4th in the senior floor competition and
was a reserve for the final, whilst also claiming 12th place all
around. Tim who only competed on 2 pieces, made masters finals in
both using big tricks on the vault and putting in an impressive
performance on the rings. Well done boys, you did Loughborough
proud! We hope their continued strong performances at national
events will put them in the eye of selectors for world student games
next year!Keep up the hard work Lads! |

Women's British Teams (24/05/2008) Loughborough Students’ gymnastics made history
today, competing as the first ever student team in the Women's
British team championships. Despite horrendous traffic and almost
half the team missing any kind of warm up, we all got there and came
back out in one piece. We might not have competed as we wanted to,
we might have been the only team in the competition without two sets
of leotards, but no one could deny we had an eventful day, and one
we will all remember for a long time! Overall, the team came 18th
and must be congratulated for a courageous effort on a challenging
day! |

BUSA Championships Results! (22/04/2008) This weekend saw 30 Loughborough gymnasts and spectators travel the 350 mile round trip to Newcastle for the 2008 BUSA Championships. With the event being run over 2 days it allowed us to relax slightly more than in previous years and made the weekend more enjoyable for all involved. Saturday saw the men take to the floor with women competing on Sunday. In total, Loughborough took away a massive 18 medals, including 5 gold:
On behalf of the gymnasts and the committee, I would like to thank all those who made this weekend possible, with special thanks going to Dave and Foss who drove competitors; all the spectators who provided so much encouragement; and the man most people forget to thank, Gheorghe, without whom we would never have achieved these results!! Full women's results can be found HERE, and all results are up on the Results Page!

It's official, thanks to all the hard work of the committee,
members, coaches and competitors, Loughborough Students Gymnastics
Club has been named the most improved club on campus! This accolade
was received with great excitement by all club members and it is
greatly appreciated that the Athletics Union recognises the work
that our club has done in the last 12 months. We have achieved
increased membership, travelled to more competitions than ever
before and of course achieved better results than ever before to
boot! After such a great year, we must carry forward this momentum
and make the 07/08 season the best yet! |
